Summary
Instagrow is a browser extension that runs entirely on your computer. It does not have a server, it does not collect analytics, and it does not transmit your data anywhere except to Instagram itself when you use Instagram features.
The rest of this page explains exactly what that means.
1. What Instagrow reads
When you are on an instagram.com page, Instagrow reads:
- Instagram session cookies on
*.instagram.com(such ascsrftoken,ds_user_id, andsessionid) so it can make Instagram requests in your existing logged-in session. The extension never reads cookies from any other website. - Page content you are looking at — posts, stories, profiles, DM threads — only on the Instagram tab you have open, and only to render the toolkit’s UI on top of it.
- Music and media URLs from Instagram’s CDN (
*.fbcdn.net) when you use the music picker. This permission is optional and is requested only when you turn on music features.
2. What Instagrow stores locally
Everything Instagrow saves stays on your computer in Chrome’s extension storage. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. The local store holds:
- Drafts and scheduled posts you create.
- UI preferences (theme, layout, last-used filters).
- Cached results from searches you ran (hashtags, music, accounts).
- DM exports you save through the export feature.
You can wipe all of it at any time by removing the extension from Chrome (chrome://extensions → Instagrow → Remove). Chrome deletes the extension’s storage when you uninstall it.
3. What Instagrow sends, and to whom
Network requests fall into three categories:
- Instagram — the extension talks to
instagram.com,*.cdninstagram.com, and*.fbcdn.neton your behalf, in your logged-in session, the same way the Instagram website does. - vibegrow.io — the extension links to
vibegrow.io/docs,/contact,/terms, and/privacyfrom inside the popup. These are normal hyperlinks — clicking them opens a tab, same as any web link. No identifier is attached. - Nothing else. No analytics provider, no error reporter, no telemetry, no ad network, no third-party tracker.
4. Bundled third-party libraries
The extension package includes two open-source libraries that run entirely inside your browser. They do not phone home:
- FFmpeg.wasm — video and image transcoding when you compose a post.
- JSZip — packaging DM exports into a
.zipfile you save locally.
5. Permissions, and why each one exists
cookiesRead Instagram session cookies on *.instagram.com so background actions (scheduled posts, DM export) run in your logged-in session.
scriptingInject the in-page creator overlay into Instagram tabs.
alarmsWake the extension at the time you scheduled a post.
downloadsSave media or DM exports to your Downloads folder when you ask.
offscreenRun FFmpeg.wasm transcoding off the main thread.
declarativeNetRequestModify response headers on Instagram requests so the offscreen worker can access them. Limited to instagram.com.
unlimitedStorageHold scheduled-post payloads and drafts, which can include media files.
host: *.instagram.com (required)The extension's only target site.
host: *.fbcdn.net (optional)Instagram's media CDN. Requested only when you enable music features.
6. Children
Instagrow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone — not from children, not from adults — because the extension does not collect information at all. If you are using Instagram, you must meet Instagram’s own age requirements.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change what the extension does in a way that affects your data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. There is no email list, so check the page (or the extension’s About panel) for the current version.
8. Not affiliated with Meta
Instagrow is an independent browser extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. Instagram and the Instagram logo are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc.
